Jaeger-LeCoultre takes a look back this year at one of its most celebrated models, a watch that in 1931 earned its renown as a self-protecting timepiece by virtue of an ingenious mechanism that gave the model its name,Patek Philippe Replica, Reverso – “I turn around”.
Reverso was born out of a desire for a timepiece that could protect itself from unrelenting shocks and constant wear and tear. At the time, English polo players in India lamented the loss of their watches due to the heavy impact sport, and the solution came in the form of a watch that had a revolving case, allowing the delicate glass and dial of the face to be protected, while the sturdy metal caseback absorbed the external shocks.
